Not McCain=Bush, McCain=Cheney!

For all those (understandably pissed-off) Clinton supporters, and us Obama supporters trying to talk some of them down off the ledge of voting for a Republic, I would like to suggest a change to the narrative a bit, since I hear a lot of "If you support McCain, you are voting to continue the policies of George W Bush?

To that, I would respond, "What policies?"

Are we forgetting what we have just observed for the last 7+ years, the guy who was POTUS was the literal definition of a ventriloquist dummy?

We haven't lived under the policies of ChimpyMcFratBoy, we have lived under the policies of Darth Cheney!

From the war in Iraq, part of the most bellicose foreign policy perhaps in US history, to economic policies that increased the transference of true wealth to the upper 1%, to a disastrous energy policy, only ONE person was driving the agenda, only one thing has been successfully enhanced:

Dick Cheney's personal wealth.  Between Halliburton and the rest of his energy based portfolio,  UberRichenFuherer Cheney has become one of the wealthiest men in the country, a thief who makes the robber barons of old jealous with envy?

Even today, we find out just how far this psycho wanted to go to enhance his personal gain:

http://atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/JF1 0Ak01.html

Hell, this criminal wanted oil prices to be 300 dollars a barrel ASAP!

I can completely understand the anger from the Clinton supporters.

I can see going so far as (though I totally disagree) abstaining from a POTUS vote, or writing in Hillary?  Particularly if you are in a blue-Obama lock state like mine?

But, those who CLAIM to be democrats that are not only are planning to vote for McCain, but are actively soliciting other democrats to join them, are not honoring Senator Clinton, they are now champions of one thing only:

The party of Dick Cheney

They are putting their stamp of approval on the party of a vicious calculating amoral robber baron, a chicken-hawk who sent brave American men and women to die in a bellicose desire to reward his oil tycoon buddies, spike the value of his Halliburton stock, and allow his entry into the realm of the only American's he deems worthy: the Uber-Wealthy!

And, this honors the historic campaign of Senator Clinton HOW?

In fact, in throws everything She and President Clinton stand for overboard in a fit of personal pique and massive ego tantrum.

So, while I think Obama will win in the fall without these crazies, just the thought of rewarding that scum-sucking murderer Cheney with a vote for his party makes me doubt these folks are really now or have ever been democrats?

I also know this is, in the minds of some folks this is part of the scheme to let McCain win, and then Senator Clinton can be elected in 2012?

I have heard a lot of "What damage can McCain do in 4 years?"  Evidently those folks have been in a coma for the last 4 years of Bush, and missed the confirmation of Roberts and Alito, the thousands of dead in Iraq, and the tsunami of the worst economic crisis since the great depression now descending on us?  Evidently, they are happy with the "Free Market" solutions McCain is hocking to our Economic Collapse, Global Warming, Health Care, etc.    Anyone that thinks it can't get worse under McCain is giddy with delusion and punch-drunk on post primary anger.  Get sober, get a clue, get a life?

The NeoCons LOVE McCain, he is their boy? The AEI, The Federalist Society, The Heritage Society, all are hoping for just ONE MORE DRINK at the well of ugly right wing division and corporate hegemony. They are scared sh*tless of President Obama with a congressional majority at his side?

Yeah, they and Big Pharma are crapping in their pants at the thought of The Universal Health Care Reform Act of 2009, authored by the junior Senator from NY?

You know, the one a President McCain will veto, and the one President Obama will sign?

Do you think that anger is worth risking 4 more years of a Republic in the Whitehouse, using signing statements to overcome the Democratic Congress?

You have 3 choices.  I submit Democrats will make choices one and two. Three is for folks who put ego over country, their anger over the future, and turn their backs not only on Bill and Hillary Clinton, but on the Democratic Party and America as well.

Vote for the Democratic Party, including our Presidential Nominee Barack Obama

Vote for the Democratic Party, abstain a vote for President, or write in Senator Clinton.

Vote to ratify Dick Cheney and continue his 8-year Reign of Terror, with a vote for John McCain.

Re: Not McCain=Bush, McCain=Cheney! (none / 0)

Dude you are funny and your logic is funnier.
You write a whole lot of about why cheney is Satan, I actually believe in that myself too. but you also want to argue that McCain is the same as Bush and Cheney
  1. So McCain continue cheney and bush policies and your proof for that? McCain voted against Cheney energy bill and Obama vote for it remember.
  2. There are so many diaries and evidence that far right republicans hate McCain here on myDD and on DailyKos and everywhere else, so much for neocans love McCain.
  3. Obama is the same as McCain in UHC. He doesn't believe in it and he doesn't even want to touch this until 2012.His plan was implemented before in Europe and failed miserably.  News for you, BigPharma has already won. We will not going to have a UHC not until the next election
By the way, I don't care who is the next president, I only care that what will the next president do. I said here that if Obama put a UHC on the table then I would vote for him and even volunteer for him.
But right now my choice is not from anger from ego or anything else the policies and voting record. It is just that I researched the candidates voting record, past accomplishments and policies. Liberal issues like gay marriage and abortion apart, McCain is closer to an openly admitting socialist like me than Obama.  He cannot change his voting record but he can at last change his policies.  Instead of writing this silly diaries try to convince his campaign to address the issues that are important to voters like me.

"Instead of writing this silly diaries try to convince his campaign to address the issues that are important to voters like me."

If you think McCain and Obama are the same on health care, you're by defination in LaLa land?

You sound like Engels with the socialist stuff, and McCain=Socialism is the height of cognative dissonance?

Nah, you're just a pissed off Clinton supporter. No reason for me OR the Obama campaign to try to convince you of anything.

navid is right, it lacks narrative substance, doesn't matter in what way's they're similar, it won't fly.  Barack will seem out of touch and he'll looking like he's sniping at an old guy.  I have a comment below on how I think he should run against the bubble boy - kindly, and with great substance.

Re: Not McCain=Bush, McCain=Cheney! (2.00 / 1)

you elevate McCain whenever you compare him to bush or cheney. Most pugs do not think he's Bush, and repeating that he is won't make it more believable. the fact that it's true is entirely irrelevant, people 'know' McCain, they've got the idea of him as a party maverick and remember how bush savaged him. this isn't the way to run against him.

he needs to be respected for his originality but seen as a bubble boy, he has his own ideas, some of which are similar to Bush's but none of which are outside the bubble.  He can't think outside the bubble.

The way for Barack to run against him is to be very substantive never mention John, and get the best experts and professionals, John isn't up to the job, Barack can show a 'new' kind of Washington (which is Hillary's idea, but hey, he's got the nom) by gathering experts and professionals and getting detailed about how he'll streamline government and bring order into chaos.   Barack should be thinking of who to head homeland security, announce it and detail the ways it must be overhauled. he must reveal the missing money problem and have a group of professional accountants who will check everything and get things on a sound basis.

the more Barack is not a bubble boy, the more John will be the bubble boy, and it's also true, john can't think outside the bubble.

Re: Not McCain=Bush, McCain=Cheney! (2.00 / 1)

this is a good diary, maybe retitle it, how to run against McCain, and then you'll get more ideas, maybe.  Anyway, it's the most important subject for now so it should have more rec's and comments.
